Friday, July 27th at the Travis Park Methodist Church church music will be featured and compositions by composer/arranger Mary McDonald. The Texas Choir Director’s Association will present seven of Ms. McDonald’s work’s. The composer will be performing along with the University United Methodist Church with over 300 choir directors in attendance. McDonald writes wonderful and very playable pieces for Church choirs with full orchestra parts or piano. Pieces performed on the 27th include her arrangements of: God of Our Fathers, Be Still, Make Me An Instrument – a beautiful work with wonderfully rich chord structure, and four more works.
I love performing this type of concert, featuring living, working composers, promoting new works and artists. I really love the works of Mary McDonald, they are challenging enough to be interesting for the performer and well constructed to make her works favorites of the congregation.
